On August 7th, the streets will come alive. For the 22nd year indoor theatres will be emptied and brought to the Halifax Waterfront, across 6 spectacular stages. Over 500 performances will take place between August 7-17th and crowds will be introduced to genuine ‘street theatre.’
The days of cheap trick artists are gone. “Buskers are ‘performers of the people’ and it will be those people that leave amazed,” says Gail Pierre Jerome, Chair of the Atlantic Buskers Festival Society. The Halifax International Busker Festival has long been credited with being one of the best Festival’s in the world. “That’s why our 76 performers will prove they belong in front of the best crowds.”
The acts this year come from nine different countries and have crushed World records, performed on Broadway, Cirque De Soleil and won awards at major Talent Shows (America’s Got Talent, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Fitness Expo).
Shows will run daily from 12pm until 11pm for 11 straight days at Historic Properties, Chebucto Landing, Queens Wharf, Maritime Museum and Sackville Landing.
Any stereotype about Buskers being panhandlers will be extinct after this year’s event. Athletic ability, comedic flare and passion for the arts will be highlighted throughout the event. With family based material during the day and memorable fire shows at night, there’s something for everyone at the Halifax International Busker Festival.
The Halifax International Busker Festival is proudly presented by Aliant, WestJet, Pepsi, Z103, Waterfront Development Corporation Limited, Historic Properties, and the Hotel Association of Nova Scotia.
